Fort Worth ISD After School Program  Leadership Camp 2017

One Thing Better Foundation is once again the Title Sponsor at The Fort Worth ISD After School Leadership Camp

The annual FWISD After School Program ‘Showcase of Stars’ commemorates a year of success by recognizing Shining Star Students from each Fort Worth After School program (FWISD) site. Each program site selects two stars that help make the Fort Worth After School a success. Attitude, attendance, outstanding behavior, and most improved student are among the criteria used to nominate a Shining Star. Also, a salute to the community partners who have provided valuable volunteer/in-kind services to the after-school program throughout the year is considered.

Held at the JROTC Leadership Learning Center, the two-day event kept all the participants engaged in multiple team building exercises, in an environment built to be a leadership laboratory for cadets, students, staff and other organizations desiring to build trust, confidence, and accountability. The shining moment in the evening is when each Star is presented the medal by a community dignitary. All groups received opportunities to display their creativity and passions outlined in the courses of actions they used in the daily problem-solving activities.

The One Thing Better Foundation (1TB Foundation) is proud to sponsor this program, which provides leadership training and development opportunities to the more than 10,000 students who are eligible.  Miguel Garcia, the FWISD officer in charge of the After School Program, stated that “without the financial and motivational support of the One Thing Better Foundation, this opportunity would not be available.  It’s nice to work with an organization that “puts their money where their mouth is,” and willingly participates in the team building and leadership exercises.

The One Thing Better Foundation looks forward to continuing the support of this great event and the excellent work the FWISD does throughout the year.
